My Days with Nell is an endearing, heartwarming story of life in the early 1900's in America's largest privately owned home, the Biltmore House in Asheville, North Carolina. Beautiful illustrations by Virginia Palmer, bring our beloved main character, Lilly Staton to life. Lilly and her parents travel to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina where Lilly receives treatment for tuberculosis, a dreadful disease of the era. The story evolves as Lilly is befriended by Cornelia Vanderbilt, the only child of George and Edith Vanderbilt, one of the wealthiest families in America during the Gilded Industrial age. Although there are wonderful physical descriptions of the Biltmore House, My Days with Nell reveals the character of the Vanderbilts as compassionate and caring people who were faithful friends. My Days with Nell will captivate a child's imagination, and inspire the reader to do as George Vanderbilt did . . . "Leave a Legacy" of blessings for others.

My Latest Work is, "Treasures of My Heart". I am so happy to announce that the book has arrived. I am tremendously grateful to Carly Kauffman for her expertise and assistance in this publication.
Treasures of My Heart is an emotional and touching story based on the Historic Carson House built in 1793 by Colonel John Carson. Mary Carson, wife of Jonathan Logan Carson, son of the Colonel, must make a heartbreaking decision. Due to her advanced age and failing health, she can no longer live alone in her beloved home. As her furniture is being moved and her mementos boxed up, she makes her final walk through the home with her daughter, Margaret and her granddaughter, Moffet by her side. Amid vivid accounts of Stoneman's Raiders during the civil war, a brother-in-law's duel, or tales of the underground railroad, Mary teaches her granddaughter powerful life lessons. The struggle of change haunts Mary, but she is resolved in what she must do. The stories set in the latter part of the 1800's will spark the imagination of children and enlighten them on bygone days of plantation life. It will encourage them to cherish their family memories . . . for its their memories that will become the treasures of their heart.
